Grey Skills was set up in 1988.
Because there wasn’t a lot of regulation, the quality of tradesmen was varied. A lot of people ended up paying more than they needed for work that wasn’t carried out correctly. At the same time, a lot of companies were downsizing and there were a lot of experienced and skilled tradesmen without work.
Grey Skills saw an opportunity to improve building and renovation services in New Zealand, and meet the growing demand for great tradesmen. The Grey Skills model has now been replicated successfully throughout the country. And these days, people don’t think that age is a barrier as much as they did before.
We have a team of reliable, experienced tradesmen, generally over 40, who take pride in their work.
All of their work is overseen by Sandy Aitchison, the owner of Grey Skills Wellington, and it's guaranteed. And our tradesmen are trustworthy and will respect your property.
About the owner
Sandy has worked in the industry for more than 35 years. He’s been based in Wellington for all that time, and has extensive local knowledge.
He has experience in painting and maintaining large commercial buildings in the CBD, and bringing Wellington homes back to life.
Sandy manages a team of about 10 tradesmen, who he has handpicked over the years for their experience, skill, attitude and reliability.
